Potential Areas of Conflict

Do Any of These Potential Areas of Conflict Sound Familiar?

  1. Someone is always late taking the kids to school or their appointments;
  2. Someone seems to ‘forget’ the lunchbox, homework or other important items;
  3. My ex lets the kids play with their electronic stuff way too long, or doesn’t stick to the rules we set;
  4. One parent doesn’t follow the bedtime routine and lets the kids stay up late;
  5. Even though we’ve agreed to monitor the kid’s eating habits, someone lets them eat whatever they want and doesn’t pack appropriate lunches;
  6. One parent allows the kids to sleep in the parent’s bed after we’ve agreed they’re too old for this;
  7. My ex wants to introduce his/her new girlfriend/boyfriend to the kids, and I think it’s too soon;
  8. Important decisions for the kids are made by only one parent without the other parent’s knowledge or permission (such as enrolling in after-school activities, or having them begin therapy);
  9. One parent interferes with calls between the kids and the other parent;
  10. Clothes, books, toys and other items are not returned when the kids are exchanged between parents;
  11. One of you always wants to argue over certain issues in front of the kids;
  12. I’ve met all the requirements we both agreed upon for trading visitation
    times, but my ex won’t agree to trade with me.
